Bending and mortise and tenon joints
Wooden mold curing
Acrylic is heated to a pliable state using a heat-bending technique, then fixed and cooled using a precision-made wooden mold, allowing it to naturally take shape. This method ensures consistent bending angles and accurate dimensions, making it an ideal processing method for producing large quantities of uniform acrylic products.
Dieless hot bending
Acrylic has excellent thermoplasticity. By heating and softening specific areas and then bending them, products can be made more three-dimensional and practical. It is widely used in one-piece molded display racks, L-shaped standees, U-shaped racks and other structural designs, and can be customized with personalized appearance and functional configuration according to customer needs.
Mortise and tenon structure reinforcement
The mortise and tenon joint, a traditional craft, can now be applied to acrylic products. Through the interlocking structure of the tenon (protruding end) and mortise (recessed end), a robust connection method without screws or adhesives is achieved. This enhances structural strength without compromising the integrity and aesthetics of the material, showcasing a new life for this ancient craft in modern materials. Integrating Eastern wisdom with modern processing technology, the traditional mortise and tenon technique is applied to acrylic products, making the connection method more stable, environmentally friendly, and allowing for disassembly and reassembly, achieving a perfect balance between freedom of variation and innovative design.
Wooden mold curing
Acrylic has malleable properties; when heated to a suitable temperature (approximately 130~160°C), the material becomes soft and bendable. At this point, it must be quickly placed into a pre-made wooden mold for positioning and fixation. After natural cooling, it will form a specific bending angle and shape.
We use professional woodworking tools to process and manufacture molds. Each mold is made according to the customer's product design specifications, ensuring accurate angles, consistent dimensions, and neat shapes in multiple batches of processing. This method is suitable for various acrylic shaping needs such as U-shaped bends, L-shaped corners, and arc forming, and is especially suitable for producing display racks, protective panels, acrylic boxes, and advertising displays.
Technological advantages
Precise and consistent fixed angle: Using mold positioning effectively avoids errors caused by manual bending.
Increased production capacity and efficiency: The molds are reusable and suitable for mass production.
Suitable for various thicknesses and sizes of acrylic sheets: compatible with both thin and thick sheets, maintaining a smooth finish without noticeable indentations.
Applicable Scenarios
Display boxes, shelves, and panel bending
Cabinet corner fittings
Advertising and decorative curved panels
Acrylic molded covers, L-frames, edge protectors, etc.
Using wooden molds for acrylic bending and shaping ensures both processing accuracy and efficiency, making it an indispensable and crucial process in acrylic manufacturing. It can reliably handle both customized single pieces and mass production, and is one of the key steps in creating high-quality acrylic products.
Dieless hot bending
Acrylic is a material with good thermoplasticity. When heated to a suitable temperature (approximately 130–160°C), its localized areas become soft and ductile, allowing for bending. Using localized heating equipment (such as linear heaters or infrared heating strips), we can precisely heat the required bending lines of the product, then bend it manually or with a mold. After cooling and setting, the desired angle is achieved.
This process eliminates the need for glue or screws during assembly, resulting in a cleaner, more streamlined overall design that integrates visual appeal with structural integrity, significantly enhancing the product's quality and practicality.
Process characteristics and advantages
Precise control of bending position and angle
The position and bending angle of the zigzag line can be freely determined according to design requirements, commonly 90 degrees, 120 degrees or arc curves.
Highly flexible and allows for free design
It is suitable for a variety of design shapes, such as L-shaped display boards, U-shaped table frames, U-shaped trays, bookends, chamfered edges, etc., and has a high degree of customization flexibility.
High processing efficiency
The process is simple and heating is fast, making it suitable for small to medium-sized production. It can also be combined with molds to achieve a more precise and consistent angle effect.
The finished product has good overall integrity.
Eliminating seams and achieving one-piece molding not only improves structural stability but also makes the product look cleaner and more complete.
Common Application Products
Display boards/nameplate racks (L-shaped, U-shaped, U-shaped)
Merchandise display racks and display boxes
Acrylic folder, chamfered edge banding
One-piece molded small item storage box, phone holder
Restaurant menu boards, information racks, brochure racks
⚠️ Precautions
The bending point will generate stress due to heat. Bending too quickly may cause breakage. It is necessary to control the appropriate heating time and bending rhythm.
Excessively thick acrylic requires double-sided heating or preheating.
After bending, allow it to cool and do not move it immediately to ensure stable shaping.
Through localized heating and bending processes, acrylic can be transformed from flat sheets into structural products with various functions and shapes. Whether it is brand display, product display or practical auxiliary tool design, it can be freely changed and quickly formed according to needs, making it one of the most flexible and cost-effective acrylic processing methods.
Mortise and tenon structure reinforcement
The mortise and tenon structure originates from Eastern architectural techniques, relying on the precise interlocking of the structure itself to complete the assembly. It can be firmly joined without nails or glue and has remained stable for thousands of years. In acrylic processing, we use laser cutting or CNC precision grooving technology to transform this traditional concept into modern structural applications, creating innovative product forms that are assembleable, detachable, and adaptable.
Structural features
Lossless splicing:
No drilling or gluing required, preserving the material's integrity, suitable for products requiring a clean and transparent appearance.
Detachable design:
The structure can be disassembled and reassembled at any time without affecting the original components, making it suitable for design requirements that require replacement, transportation, or maintenance.
Combining modern manufacturing processes:
It can be used with laser cutting and CNC machining to produce high-precision mortise and tenon joints, ensuring a precise and secure fit.
The use of interlocking clips and auxiliary fasteners makes the structure more stable and durable, extending its overall service life.
